 NOTHING

It conjures up mostly negative thoughts.

The fear children have when they think that they will get nothing for Christmas.

As adults, when there is NOTHING in our bank accounts and we worry about if there will be nothing on the table for our families.

In conversations, the word NOTHING can be a dagger of sort.

I have NOTHING to say to you.

I want NOTHING to do with you.

1.    Positive:

a.    God created all things out of NOTHING.  He brought all things into existence.   Psalms 33:6

b.    With God Nothing is impossible

VBS Song: Our God is so Big, So Strong and So Mighty there’s NOTHING our God cannot do.  Luke 1:37

c.    Because all things are possible with God, I should be anxious for NOTHING.   Phillipians 4:6

d.    Thus, we should live Holy Lives and do NOTHING from selfishness.  Phillipians 2:3

2.    Negative

a.    Even as you review the negative side, you still can’t help but keep in mind the positive and powerful nature of God.

b.    Quite simply, we are NOTHING without God.

  i.          We have no salvation.

  ii.          We have no hope.

  iii.          Romans 7:18

  iv.          1 Corinthians 13:1-3

c.    If we live to ourselves and according to the flesh, in the end, we will have NOTHING left.

  i.          During the lesson of the Rich Man and Lazarus, once the Rich Man had died, he had no other opportunities for repentance.  No other opportunities for relief.  He had NOTHING.

ii.          Likewise, if we do not adhere to God’s teachings, accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we will have NOTHING.  No part in Heaven or God’s Riches.

iii.          NOTHING, or no one to blame but ourselves.

3.    Conclusion

a.    There are other passages that contain “NOTHING”.

b.    But, don’t tell them that it was NOTHING OF IMPORTANCE.
