Why did Jesus come to earth?

2.    Why was it necessary for Jesus to come to earth?

3.    Here are some Bible answers.

Jesus had to live to die.

1.    Death is necessary for man to be saved. John 1:29

2.    Salvation demanded a perfect, sinless sacrifice. Romans 1:23-26

3.    Problem:

a.    God is perfect, sinless

b.    God is eternal, not subject to death

4.    Solution:

a.    Jesus made lower than the angels Hebrews 2:9

b.    Jesus died for us Hebrews 2:14

Jesus had to be tempted to be perfect

1.    Perfection had to be tested.

2.    Jesus was without sin Hebrews 2:10

3.    Tempted – but without sin Hebrews 4:15

4.    He could destroy the power of death and the devil Hebrews 2:14

Jesus had to be hurt to understand

1.    He has the full gamut of human problems

a.    Hungry

b.    Thirsty

c.    Tired

d.    Sorrowful

e.    Rejected

f.     Betrayed

g.    Physical pain

h.    Died

Jesus had to be among us to show us the way

Jesus has to be one us to represent us

1.    Mediator 1 Timothy 2:5-6

2.    Mediator must represent BOTH sides

3.    Jesus was both the son of man and the Son of God

Jesus had to become poor to make us rich
