Mark 12:37 – Common people heard him gladly

Introduction

Many words we use in a spiritual sense have their origin in common (Koine Greek) usage

Then God choose common, ordinary words, and gave them special meanings and usage for Christians

1.    Church – planned, called assembly (like city council meeting)

2.    Hell – gehenna – valley of burning garbage

3.    Deacon – servant, as server of food

4.    Worship – adore, honor as a judge in England

5.    Pray – request, ask, petition

6.    Elder – older (man or woman)

7.    Bishop – foreman, overseer, visit (to see to their needs)

8.    Pastor – shepherd, one who cares for and tends sheep

9.    Baptism – wash, dip, immerse
