1. An Obligation – Seek

   1. Search, diligently look for, seek out

   2. Herod at birth of Christ

   3. Philippians 2:12 work out own salvation

   4. Galatians 5:6 faith that works through love

   5. There is no requirement for tomorrow

   6. John 9:4 work while it is day

2. An Object – kingdom and righteousness

   1. Not material gain – money

   2. Not fame – fortune

   3. Not prominence – prestige

   4. Not doctrines of men – own opinions or feelings

   5. The kingdom = church

      1. Blessings and benefits are in it

      2. Ephesians 1:3 spiritual blessings are in Christ

   6. Righteousness = doing right

      1. Psalm 119:172

      2. 1 John 2:29

      3. Seek to enter the kingdom and do right in your life

3. An Order – first

   1. Not hard to understand

   2. Very hard to apply to our lives

   3. Some complain – Bible not relevant

   4. Apply to your life – when you have a choice – how do you decide?

      1. Trips, tasks, things to do

      2. Places to go, things to see, people to visit

      3. When could be doing 2 or more things – What do you choose?

      4. What you choose is what is FIRST.

   5. Which is more important for your salvation?

   6. Think about parable of Talents -

      1. Honest, not steal, not embezzle, not wasteful, not drunk

      2. What did he do wrong? Not a solitary thing.

4. Conditional Promise – added

   1. In an unequal trade you might ask for “something to boot” extra, added, flung in

   2. Many have this backwards – they seek the material things first

   3. Seek the kingdom and righteousness – material things will the “flung in”
