Baptism into one Body
1 Corinthians 12:13
Some use this verse to imply HS baptism for all believers
We just need to study this passage for what it says and teaches
1 Corinthians 12:13
Authority – By one Spirit
This is NOT HS Baptism
Promise – not a command
Administered by Christian
Limited to the apostles
Purpose was to confirm the Word
Action – we are all baptized
This baptism is commanded
Is a burial in water
For the remission of sins
Puts one into Christ
Added to the church
Object – into one body
1 Corinthians 12:20 many members, but one body
Ephesians 1:22-23
Colossians 1:18, 24
Extent – Jew or Greek (Gentile), bond or free
Mark 16:15 every creature
Matthew 28:19 all nations
Blessing – drink into one Spirit
2 Peter 1:3-4 partakers (drink) of the divine nature
Conclusions
The Spirit is the Holy Spirit
The baptism is not HS baptism
The baptism is the command from Christ (Great Commission)
Baptism puts one into the body (describes our relationship)
There is now ONE baptism – Ephesians 4:5
