5 REASONS NOT TO WORK

Matthew 5:14-16

Reason #1 – I just can't get involved

1. Involvement is necessary – Ephesians 2:8-10

2. Created to do good workmanship

3. Not being involved = involved in making the problem worse

Reason #2 – I don't have the time

1. Colossians 4:4-6 – make the most of your time

2. Outsiders – vs. 5

3. How much more those in Christ's

4. Why did Joshua ask for more time? Joshua 10:12

   1. Fighting battle – sun going down

   2. Still work to do before dark

Reason #3 – I just don't care

1. Good works reflect on your character

2. Galatians 4:28-29

3. If we are children of promise – we will reveal ourselves by our works

Reason #4 – I don't have the skill

1. Exodus 28:3 – skill to Aaron's priestly garments

2. 1 Chronicles 28:21 – skilled men in army of David

3. Desire is mentioned before skill

Reason #5 – I don't have the resources

1. Money is not always a requirement

   1. Time – energy – expression of sympathy – encouragement

   2. Just be sure it is for the right purpose

Conclusion

1. As we grow – don't forget to do good works.

2. These are a barometer of our growth.

3. Don't be carnal and look for reasons to neglect

4. Be ready for every good work.
