TITLE: A Few ABLE Men

TEXT: 2 Timothy 2:1-3

PROPOSITION: Each of us must serve God according to our ability.

INTRODUCTION:

1. God needs each of us to do as we are able.

2. Many will make excuses. "I am not able to ..."

3. Today we will examine seven types of able people.


 

1. Able to hear the Word of God.

A. Mark 4:33 "as they were able to hear it"

B. Acts 10:33 Cornelius "we are here to hear all things commanded of God"


 

2. Able to Comprehend the Spiritual.

A. Eph. 3:18 "May be able to comprehend"

B. Eph. 1:18 "Eyes of your understanding be enlightened"


 

3. Able to Control Self.

A. Rom. 12:1-2 Present bodies a living sacrifice

B. James 3:2 "able to bridle the whole body"


 

4. Able to Stand Fast.

A. Eph. 6:11 put on armor "able to stand fast"

B. Gal. 5:1 "Stand fast in the liberty"

C. 1 Cor. 16:13 Watch, stand fast in the faith"


 

5. Able to Keep in Rememberance.

A. 2 Pet. 1:15 you may be able to keep these things in rememberance


 

6. Able to Admonish (counsel, encourage) Others.

A. Rom. 15:14 "able to admonish one another"

B. Acts 4:36 Barnabas "Son of Consolation"


 

7. Able to Teach Others.

A. 2 Tim. 2:2 teach faithful men, they may be able to teach others also


 

Conclusion:

1. Not all are able to do the same work.

2. Find what you ARE able to do - AND DO IT WITH YOUR MIGHT!
