Remain Faithful

 

Introduction

  1. We talk about the plan of salvation

  2. We mention the steps of faith, repent, confession, baptism

  3. Then we – toss in – remain faithful.

  4. What does that mean? What does it require of me?

Remain / Abide

  1. 1 John 2:24-25

  2. Hebrews 12:27

  3. Thayer 1) to remain, abide; 1a) in reference to place; 1a1) to sojourn, tarry; 1a2) not to depart; 1a2a) to continue to be present; 1a2b) to be held, kept, continually; 1b) in reference to time; 1b1) to continue to be, not to perish, to last, endure; 1b1a) of persons, to survive, live; 1c) in reference to state or condition; 1c1) to remain as one, not to become another or different; 2) to wait for, await one

Keep the faith

  1. 2 Timothy 4:6-8 – I kept the faith

  2. 1 Timothy 5:22 – keep yourself pure

  3. 1 Timothy 6:14 – keep the commandment

Be Faithful

  1. Colossians 1:1-2 – saints and faithful brethren

  2. Thayer 1) trusty, faithful; 1a) of persons who show themselves faithful in the transaction of business, the execution of commands, or the discharge of official duties; 1b) one who kept his plighted faith, worthy of trust; 1c) that can be relied on

  3. Revelation 2:10 – faithful unto death

  4. Revelation 17:14 – we are called, chosen and faithful

We must remain faithful:

  1. To our obligations / contracts / promises

    1. Pay your debts

    2. Keep your promises

  2. To our work / occupation

  3. To our relationships

    1. Marriage and family

    2. Friends / relatives

  4. To our church / congregation

    1. Work / support /

    2. Finances

    3. Involvement / attendance / participation

  5. To our spiritual life / prayer / study

  6. To our trust in God
