HONEY IN THE LION

Introduction:

Text: Judges 13 – beginning of 14

Background of the story

Read Judges 14:8-9

Discussion:

ALL FAITHFUL CHRISTIANS WILL FACE DIFFICULTIES IN LIFE.

  1. Even though Samson was destined to be the deliverer of the children of Israel he faced a serious confrontation. He had to face a young lion with his bare hands.

  2. 2 Timothy 3:12 – we will suffer persecution

  1. Paul (Saul) was a persecutor – then persecuted. (Acts 26:9-11).

  2. Revelation 2:10 – It might mean death

  3. Eph. 6:10-18, (Explain the importance of our preparing for battle).

  1. We should keep in mind our fight is not a carnal one, but a spiritual one.

  2. Eph. 6:12 I Tim. 6:12

IN SPITE OF THE DIFFICULTIES & HARDSHIPS WE FACE THERE ARE MULTI-BLESSINGS.

  1. Samson enjoyed the honey found in the carcass of the dead lion.

  2. We know that all spiritual blessing are in Christ (Eph. 1:3).

  1. We have truly been blessed.

  2. There are also physical blessings to enjoy. We are confident that our Heavenly Father will providentially answer our prayers concerning our physical needs such as rain and overcoming sickness (James 4:14-18).

  1. Many of us are blessed to have members of our family as faithful Christians.

  2. The 23rd Psalm will never grow old to our ears because it reminds us in being faithful we do not even have to fear death.

IN LIVING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE WE HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES WHICH INCLUDES SHARING WITH OTHERS.

  1. Samson was thoughtful of taking some of the honey unto his parents. But he didn’t tell them where he got it.

  1. There are some things which we should keep to our self. Others do not have to know every little detail of some things. This is often true concerning those who come forward and confess their sins.

  2. It is also true when what we know about another will only embarrass them and hurt their feelings. Often a brother or sister in Christ turns to elders and preachers about personal problems. Unless the problem directly affects others then it would serve no worthwhile purpose to broadcast it to anyone else.

  1. During the infancy of the church some who were more blessed with the necessities of life readily shared with those who had little or none at all. Acts 4:32
