If Jesus was on Facebook
In February of 2004, Mark Zuckerberg, a student at Harvard University , along with three of his roommates, launched what is now called Facebook. The
website's membership was initially limited to Harvard students, but it quickly spread across Ivy League campuses, and today it is actively used by 500 million
people. Facebook gives individuals an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, while at the same time introducing them to new ones. It also gives family
members an opportunity to correspond with those they may not converse with regularity . Each person, once on Facebook, can post whatever is on their mind.
In addition, they have the option to confirm, ignore, or remove any friend they choose.
Let's suppose for a moment that Jesus was on Facebook. We can all certainly agree that there would be no better friend (Prov . 18:24; John 15:13)!
Consider some things He would want from us if He were personally a Facebook user.
If Jesus were on Facebook He would want us to
CONFIRM His friend request (cf. Mat. 1 1:28-30; Rev . 3:20; 2 Thess.
2:14).
If Jesus were on Facebook He would want us to
READ His posted message (cf. Psa. 1:2; 2 Tim. 2:15; Hos. 4:6; 2 Kings
23:2).
If Jesus were on Facebook He would want us to
COMMENT on His posted message (cf. John 14:15; 1 John 5:3; Jam. l:17-25;
Mat. 7:21)
If Jesus were on Facebook He would want us to
DELETE the filth from our profile (cf. Jam. 1:21; Heb. 12:1; Rom.
13:12-14).
If Jesus were on Facebook He would want us to
SHARE His message with others (cf. Rom. 10:14ff; Mark 16:15ff; Luke
14:23).
If Jesus were on Facebook He would want us to REMAIN His faithful friend (cf. John 6:66ff; Jam. 4:4; 2 Tim.4:7-8; Rev . 2:10; 22:4).
Conclusion. There is coming a day when all will see the Lord face to face. Today , we see Him through the eyes of faith, and we read His post (His Message) through His inspired Word. He wants to be our friend. Will we confirm Him or ignore Him? Prov. 18:24; John 15:13
