YOU SHALL NOT REMOVE THE LANDMARKS

Deuteronomy 19:14

Introduction

  1. Before survey equipment, iron pins, computerized records or GPS

  2. Before there was barbed wire fencing

  3. Israel used posts, creek beds, rocks, trees and other things to mark the boundary

  4. A thief could move or remove a marker and steal property

  5. These warnings are seen in several places

    1. Deuteronomy 19:14 – our text

    3. Job 24:2

    4. Proverbs 23:10

  6. Even today – there are no fences in Israel

  7. There are also spiritual landmarks that must not be moved (altered or changed)

Simple Lesson

  1. The Bible is filled with broad general principles that can be applied in many areas of life

    1. Love your neighbor

    2. Be kind to one another

  2. The parables of Jesus take actual and literal events to teach spiritual lessons

Conclusion

  1. DON'T MOVE THE LANDMARKS

  2. TRUTH – does not change or shift

  3. GOSPEL – must not be changed or moved

  4. BIBLE – remains the Word of God

  5. BAPTISM – continues to be immersion for remission of sins

  6. WORSHIP – is not adjusted for our liking

  7. ETERNITY – Heaven and Hell are real and forever!
