Reverence in Communion

1.     Some discussion about communion being the “most important” part of worship.

2.     I do not believe one part is more important than another.

3.     I do not want to lower the importance of communion. I want to elevate all other parts of worship and bring them up to the level of communion.

Reverence in communion centers in one idea: Unworthily

1.     Often misunderstood

2.     I must be perfect to partake.

3.     I must be free from sin in my life.

4.     I must not enjoy it.

5.     I must be humble.

"Unworthily" is an adverb

1.     It describes the manner (how) we partake.

2.     This does not deal with "who" but "how".

How are we to partake?

1.     Remembering

a.     Christ's death on the cross

b.     He is coming again

2.     Discerning - to visualize, to see clearly

3.     Examining ourselves

4.     Showing our faith

5.     "You do show (outward) the Lord's death (backward) till he come (forward)."

Look 6 directions

1.     Up - to God who sent His Son

2.     Down - to the grave

3.     In - examine yourself

4.     Out - communion with fellow-Christians

5.     Back - to the cross

6.     Ahead - to second coming
