INTRODUCTION:
Most sermons on church attendance focus on the command to assemble. (Hebrews 10:25)
I MUST assemble to worship because I am commanded.
I NEED to assemble to worship because:
Mark 3:31-35 – 31Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him. 32And a multitude was sitting around Him; and they said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are outside seeking You.” 33But He answered them, saying, “Who is My mother, or My brothers?” 34And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 35For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.”
Every Sunday if family reunion time
Announcements – catch up on what is happening in the family
Bulletin, weekly email, Phone notification system
Visit in the foyer and halls before and after worship
I have things to learn
I am keeping up with what I need to serve God in my life.
I will grow in faith, strengthen my convictions and bolster my courage.
Auditorium is often called “sanctuary” – safe place
Away from the toils and troubles of everyday life
Here I can focus – think, re-direct my life
Neighbors see me leave every Sunday
We influence many people in ways we are not aware
My faith is visible in my actions
Jesus died for ME!
There is a memorial service to honor that death.
Why would you NOT be there?
Jesus did not stay in the tomb, he is alive
1 Corinthians 15:57 – thanks to God who gives us the victory
Worship is not a funeral – It is a celebration
I am a child of God. God is my heavenly Father.
I want (and need) to spend some time with Him.
