Introduction:

4. Why not more love, concern, caring in our world?

5. The problem = “thyself” If I don’t love myself, you are in deep trouble.

6. “If you knew me like I know me, you’d like me.”

1. Causes.

   1. Negative Society

      1. Parents to children - ugly, fat, stupid, sloppy, clumsy, dumb
         These become self-fulfilling prophecies

      2. Suicide note - ENO ON MA I
         Held to a mirror it said “I AM NO ONE”

      3. Stoplight Go light
         Wrecker Tow truck
         Cold Warm

   2. Evolution - from apes

      1. I do not know your family - I am not from apes.

      2. Blackout in NYC - “They were acting like animals.”

   3. Freud - Childhood, environment, inherited

      1. Everything that happens is fault of others.

      2. I can’t help it - born that way, parents, abused, poverty, etc.

   4. Pornography - degrades women, sex as God intended

   5. Preachers - preach guilt, frustration, knock down
      Low - reach up to pick strawberries

2. Cures.

   1. Common sense - You are of value to society

   2. Bible - tells us three things

      1. God loves you - John 3:16

      2. In spite of - Sin Rom. 5:8; Your love for God; Your life, faith

      3. “God never made a nobody.”

      4. Psalm 8:4-6 God made man a little lower than angels

Conclusion:

1. You are somebody.

2. God loves you. Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

3. You are a child of the King. 1 John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
