  2. HOW does He dwell?

    1. God dwells in us – 2 Corinthians 6:16

    2. Christ dwells in us – Colossians 1:27; Galatians 2:20; Colossians 3:16

    3. Holy Spirit dwells in us – Romans 8:9, 11

    4. All dwell in us by faith

      1. God –

        1. 1 John 4:15

        2. Confess our faith – He dwells in us

      2. Christ –

        1. Ephesians 3:17

        2. Revelation 3:20 – hear His voice, open the door

      3. Holy Spirit –

        1. Galatians 3:2 – hearing of faith

        2. Acts 5:32 – them that obey

  3. WHAT does He do?

    1. What He does NOT do:

      1. Not conversion

      2. Not kindle emotions

      3. Not revelation

      4. Not personal benefit

      5. Not illuminate understanding

      6. Not direct operation on the heart

    2. Through the Word – Ephesians 6:17

      1. Spirit and Word are not the same

      2. Both do many of the same things

      3. Spirit (soldier) works through the Word (weapon)

      4. He also works for us, on our behalf

    3. What He does TO us:

      1. Bears fruit – Galatians 5:21

      2. Comforts – John 14:26

      3. Sanctifies – 2 Thessalonians 2:13

      4. Purifies – Hebrews 9:13-14

      5. Leads – Romans 8:14

      6. Bears witness – Romans 8:16

    4. What He does FOR us:

      1. Providence – Romans 8:28

      2. Intervention with natural law

        1. 2 Corinthians 9:8

        2. Philippians 4:13

        3. Matthew 6:33

        4. Ephesians 3:20

        5. Matthew 6:11

    5. Significance

      1. Every Christian receives the Spirit as a seal, an earnest, pledge

      2. To believe that Deity hears and answers prayer, grants wisdom (James 1:5), is easier when we believe in the closeness to us of the Godhead.
