WHAT MUST I DO?

Acts 16:25-31

Introduction

1.      The title question is asked four times in the New Testament.

2.      Each time a different answer is given. Why?

3.      Illustration: I am going to Disney World in Florida.

a.      In Nashville, TN I ask how far it is to Disney World – Answer 700 miles

b.      In Atlanta, GA – Answer 450

c.      In Gainesville, FL – Answer 100

d.      In Orlando, FL – Answer 20

4.      The answers were different because we were at a different place along the route.

5.      NOTE: The answer was not – “Don’t do anything.”

1.      Jailer – “Believe”

a.      Acts 16:30-31

b.      John 8:24; Hebrews 11:6

2.      Jews – “Repent”

a.      Acts 2:37-38

b.      They already believed and were “pricked in their heart”

c.      2 Peter 3:9; Acts 17:30

3.      Ethiopian – “Confess”

a.      Acts 8:36-37

b.      Matthew 10:32-33; Romans 10:9-10

4.      Saul – “Be baptized”

a.      Acts 9:6; Acts 22:16

b.      Mark 16:16; 1 Peter 3:21

5.      In each case the answer depended on where that person was in their journey to God.
