HOW TO FORGIVE

Colossians 3:13; Ephesians 4:32

Introduction

1.     In Home – parents, spouse, children

2.     On job – boss, co-workers

3.     Church – leadership, minister, members

How can I forgive them?

1.     A Gentile Spirit

a.     Feelings of others are important

b.     Attitude of concern for others

2.     Good Sense of Self-Esteem

a.     You have nothing to lose or defend

b.     If you are insecure:

                                                    i.     Feel you must defend

                                                   ii.     Being right is important

                                                 iii.     Loving is less important

3.     Commitment to Relationships

a.     Always differences of opinion

b.     Selfishness is the enemy of any relationship

c.     Put the other person first

4.     Learn to Forget

a.     We don’t have an “ERASE” button

b.     We can decide to forget, not bring it up again

c.     1 Corinthians 13:6 – no record of wrongs

5.     Christ-Like Attitude

a.     Father, forgive them

b.     Philippians 2:5 – Mind of Christ
