Hindered Prayer

1 Peter 3:7

We can be hindered:

1.     From prayer

a.     Lax, lukewarm

b.     Too busy

c.     Too little to do

d.     Lack of order

2.     In prayer

a.     Wrong time or place

b.     Worldly cares

c.     Earthly pleasures

d.     Worldly sorrows

e.     Bad temper

3.     Offending the Godhead

a.     Father to whom we pray

b.     Son through whom we pray

c.     Holy Spirit by whom we pray

4.     Prayer may not be heard

a.     Must be a child of God – 1 Peter 3:12

b.     Righteous – James 5:16

c.     Faith – Matthew 21:22

d.     Holy desires – James 4:3

e.     Fervor – James 5:16

f.      Expect your answer – Matthew 21:21; 1 Timothy 2:8

g.     Fail to forgive others – Matthew 6:15

5.     In Christ’s name – Colossians 3:17

a.     In his name – by the authority or direction of Christ

b.     According to God’s will – 1 John 5:14-15

c.     Unselfish – James 4:3
