  1. Lord’s Prayer” is an example he gave on how to pray.

  2. You can read them in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:1-4

  3. In John 17 is a prayer from the lips of Jesus.

  4. Notice WHO he prayed for and WHAT he prayed for


 

WHO CHRIST PRAYED FOR

  1. Those who belong to him – 9

    1. Those that one day would belong to him – 20

    2. This prayer was not for the lost but the saved

  2. Those who know their savior – 25

    1. John 10:14 – My sheep know my voice.

    2. Do you know Christ?

  3. Those who keep his word – 8

    1. Romans 10:17

    2. Remain faithful to the teaching of the Bible

  4. Those who live for him – 10

 

WHAT HE PRAYED FOR (AND STILL PRAYS FOR US)

  1. Know God fully – 3

    1. Philippians 3:10 Paul prayed “that I may know him”

    2. 1 John 5:20 – Son of God is come to give us understanding

    2. John 17:21 – that they may be one in us, that the world might believe

    1. Keep them from evil – 15

    2. God will protect those who remain faithful

  5. Know the joy of God – 13

    1. Our joy is in Christ – Past – birth, life, death, resurrection

    2. Our joy is in Christ – Present – mediator, intercessor, advocate

    3. Our joy is in Christ – Future – resurrection, eternal life
